Disso Choices

Whilst I had an amazing time in Malta, now I'm back in England I have to face reality and prepare for my last year of uni. This is where the hard work begins. And it starts with choosing my dissertation title.

For those who don't know what a dissertation is, it's a research paper that you have to write in your last year. Mine will be around 14,000 words based on a topic of my degree subject, Mathematics.

Now, doing maths at uni, I'm pretty used to dealing with numbers, but essay writing? Well, that's my weakness. So already I'm nervous, but then I received the list of titles I have to choose from, and well, lets just say it didn't ease my nerves at all.

Only one person can do each title, so by the end of the month we have to all have to send in our top five choices and hopefully we get allocated one of them.

After lots of careful consideration and deliberation, here are my five choices:

  • Fractal Structures of Random and Self Avoiding Walks
  • Binomial Tree Methods and Option Pricing
  • Monte Carlo Methods and Option Pricing
  • Kissing Circles
  • 323mse: Practical Applications of Mathematics

What do you think? Sounds exciting right?

I can just tell that I'm going to have so much fun next year. And in preparation I have some motivating images for me to look at next year.

I wanna go to Monsters University

It's been manic since I got back from Malta. I feel like I haven't had a single day where I can just sit down and chill. It's been non stop. However this weekend I'm taking it easy. I haven't had to work so yesterday I organised meeting up with a friend, who treated me to the cinema.

We went to go see Monsters University.

I was so excited about this film. I've heard loads of good stuff about it and I thought the first film was great. So in my terribly childish and excited state I went to the cinema to see the second Monsters Inc. film.

The film is set before Monsters Inc, during 'collage' (or university) years. It was a very funny film and I found myself chuckling out loud at some points. There's some slapstick humour for the children as well as the classic hidden humour for older generations that Disney/Pixar are well known for.

The film tied in beautifully with the previous one and I fell I fell in love with the characters all over again. The story was a good one, which although was slightly predicable, was fun and easy to follow.

But lets be honest, it's not a groundbreaking film and it won't be the best film I see this year. But I still enjoyed it, and it's perfect if you want to see something 'feel good'.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. Did anyone else go to the cinema?

Little Loves

Source, Pinterest
1. This weather can mean only one thing…BBQ time. And I have had lots the last few weeks

2. Driving with my car windows down

3. Seeing new born piglets, so cute!

4. Anchovies, I can't seem to get enough of them. They're great in a salad

5. Music. I didn't liston to much whilst I was in Malta, so it's great to have the radio back and hear all the new songs that are out.

It's BBQ time

With all this beautiful, sunny (and unexpected) sunshine, I'm sure I wasn't the only one craving a BBQ. I thought I'd share some pictures with you of one (of the two) that we had last weekend.

Leaving the boyfriend to deal with the BBQ, I caught up on some blogging.

Lamb cooking on the BBQ

My beautiful baby sister (who turned 15 recently, so not that much of a baby anymore, where did the time go!!)

Trying to take a picture with the boyfriend is like trying to draw blood from a stone, so unsurprisingly there are only a few pictures of us together. I took the opportunity last weekend to force him to stand up straight and smile and got a few nice snaps of us, I'll take that as a win :)

Preparation for the big moment..

P.s. It's only now I've noticed how alcohol features in most of these pictures, not sure exactly what that says about my family…

'One Day' wishes

There are certain items, classics if you will, that I am desperate to become the owner of. Unfortunately, my current lifestyle or budget doesn't allow for such splurges, but that doesn't mean that one day I won't be the owner of own of these beautiful items.
Christian Louboutin

Can you get anything more sophisticated and classic than a pair of black Christian Louboutin shoes? I'd love to own a pair of these to wear to nice parties and dinners, but seeing as my social life mainly consists of night clubs with sticky floors and broken glass under foot, maybe I should wait before splurging out on a pair of these.

Burberry

A Burberry trench coat. I can't explain to you why I love these so much, but I think they are so elegant and beautiful. I have to have one in my life at some point.
Mulberry
And lastly, what woman isn't complete without a stand out beautiful bag. Choosing just four to put in this collage was tough. They have so many gorgeous bags, it was so hard to pick.

So here are some of the things that I will own one day. What about you? Is there anything that I haven't mentioned that you've been dreaming of, or hope to one day own?

Back to Blighty

So that's it, my year in Malta is over and I'm back home. I've had the most amazing year, but it really is so nice to be back home with my family and friends (though what is up with the weather? One minute is cold and drizzly and then next sunny).

I arrived back home on Thursday, and on Friday my family, Tom and I went up to Norfolk to visit some family friends. Norfolk is one of my favourite places ever, and I had so much fun up there. Whilst we were there one of their alpacas had a baby. We got to see it just 15 minutes after is was born, and a couple of hours later I was asked to weigh the baby. I don't know if you guys know much about alpacas but their fleece is softer than cashmere so the baby was super cuddly and cute.

Look how long those legs are! (and no, I'm not talking about me, at 5'3 I don't think anyone will be telling me I have long legs)

I also got to weigh the other baby alpaca, Lollipop, who was just under a week old. Cuteness overload!

Also, as I mentioned before, my blog turned one a couple of months ago. It's only recently hit me how big of a deal this is. I never guessed when I first started my blog that I would carry it on for a whole year, but here and am. And I love my blog more than ever.

I'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who reads, follows and comments on my blog. I know there's not a huge number of you but I am grateful to every one.  I hope that I enjoy blogging this next year as much and I have enjoyed blogging the last year.
