Shabby Chic Birthdays

Last week it was my sister's 18th birthday (can't tell you how old that makes me feel) but, due to dreaded exams, we only got round to celebrating it as a family last night.

We went out for a meal at a restaurant called Hawksmoore in Spitalfields, London, and had the most amazing steaks and cocktails there. Very pricey but I would recommend it to anyone. The waiter was exceptionally helpful, explaining the different cuts of meat/sauces/sides/cocktails, and the service was efficient but laidback.

However, one of the biggest surprises of the nights came from the pub we popped into beforehand. It was opposite the restaurant and called The Commercial Tavern. It was decorated in a 'shabby chic' style, a complete contrast from my usual student pubs, and had a lovely atmosphere. I had such fun looking at all the different patterns and decorations. You couldn't go five minutes without spotting another unusual furnishing.

Overall, I had a really lovely evening and was a perfect way to end my exams. My sister had a good birthday and some beautiful presents. Now I can't wait for summer, and can finally enjoy this sun!

P.s. I received my first ever Glossybox a couple of days ago, so expect a review post soon. Spoiler: I loved it!

Review: Avon Glimmerstick Diamonds Eyeliner

Heyyy!

So, I have recently discovered eBay (yes, I know, I'm so behind) and thought I would share with you the first bargain that I've purchased. It's an Avon Glimmerstick Diamonds eyeliner and I think it's brilliant. I chose the one in Smokey Diamond and love the colour. It really stands up to its name and glitters in the light. It's also easy to use and has a creamy texture meaning it slides across your eyelid and lasts all day.

I paid £3.95 for this product, which usually costs £6 plus p&p. Very chuffed! And it's now safe to say I'm an eBay addict!

Heart Cake

Hey!

So, just a quick post today as I am completely swamped with revision. I have two exams tomorrow and am so so nervous! I've been up since 8.30 this morning doing revision, but have decided to have a little break and update my blog.

I wanted to show you the beautiful cake that my housemates and I made (ok, ok, I had very little to do with the making of this cake due to revision, but it looks so incredible that I wanted some of the glory). Doesn't it look amazing? I can't wait to taste it!

Anyway, back to revision for me, and hopefully I will be able to blog next week after my exams.

Silky smooth

First of all, I need to apologize about the quality of the pictures. I know they're not great (understatement!) but my camera is back in Surrey, so I'm relying on my iPhone.

I wanted to write a post today about my new hair product crush. Sadly, after dying my hair and constant blow drying, the tips were in a pretty awful state. My hair has always been naturally shiny and soft so I was pretty upset with this new development. So I had a rummage around my (many) make up bags and found these beauties buried deep down.

Lee Stafford - Poker Straight Flat Iron Protection Shine Mist

Lee Stafford - Poker Straight Shine Serum

They're Lee Stafford, and you can get hold of them from boots for about £7-£10 (though mine were acquired from Father Christmas a couple of years ago - good job Mum!)

I used the Poker Straight Shine Serum and have to say I was delighted with the results. Straight away I could tell the difference. I have continued to use both products and my hair is pretty much back to normal, and incredibly soft. Plus they smell amazing too! Brilliant value for money.

Birds and Petals

As you can see, revision is going well ;)

I'm actually really pleased with these pictures. Okay okay, they are very amateur, and the quality isn't great. But technology hates me, literally HATES me. Everything seems to break as soon as I touch it, or it won't do what I want it to do, or it's just too confusing for me. So now you can see why I like these pictures, very proud.

They were actually super easy to do, I didn't use any fancy computer software or anything, just a cheeky app on my iPhone. It's called Camera+, its 69p but so worth it. Really simple way to create lovely pictures, that you can upload straight to Facebook. So easy, even I can do it!

One down, four to go..

I had my first exam a few days ago. I think it went well, but I guess we wont know until the results come out, eeak!

I managed to go shopping before my exams started and was so pleased with my buys that I thought I would share them with you now whilst I'm having a break from revision.

Necklace: Topshop
Top: River Island
Bag: Urban Outfitters
I bought a gold necklace from Topshop, which I think smartens up an outfit and just looks beautiful. I have already worn it a few times when I've been out to a restaurant and had people comment on how lovely it is.

I love the pattern on the top, and it instantly puts me in the mood for summer. Plus it's easy to wear with jeans or shorts.

Then, my favorite item, a clutch bag from Urban Outfitters. My boyfriend told me it looks like a ‘grandma bag’, but I don’t care, I love it and think it looks gorgeous! I tend to wear a lot of black dresses on nights out, so I’m hoping this bag will bring some colour into my outfits.

Sadly I was not able to buy as much as I hoped on my shopping trip, (I was desperately trying to find a nice pair of shorts, but couldn’t). Never mind, guess I’ll just have to go shopping again, what a pain ;)

My First Hello

Hello! My name is Georgia and I’m a second year Maths student at University. I’m not yet entirely sure what this blog will be about (I will probably end up using it as a good way to avoid revision for my exams, whoops!) but I hope to fill it up with things that make me smile and will result in something I can look back on in a couple of years.
I hope you enjoy reading it, and feel free to get in touch
