Review: Barry M Gelly Hi Sine Nail Varnishes

I know, I know. Everyone and their mum has done a review on these nail varnishes. And here's another one spamming your screen. I'm sorry. Originally I wasn't going to do this post, seeing as everyone else has already written theirs. I wouldn't give in to peer pressure or jump on the band waggon and tell everyone how amazing they are..

But then I thought, surely that would mean I'm allowing other people to influence me into not writing this post? So in actual fact, by writing this post I am being independent and doing my own thing? (You still following..)

So here's my totally unique, not jumping on the band waggon, independent woman, and overall brilliant review :)

L-R: Greenberry and Papaya
Now I'm not the kind of girl who has to always has her nails painted, in fact in my house I'm known as the girl who is always saying she will paint her nails, but never actually does. But I love these little gems.

I'm sure you have all heard of Barry M's new Gelly Hi-Shine varnishes, but if you haven't tried them out yet, then you really really should. The consistency is slightly thicker than normal, and when they dry they do look a little like gel. The first coat is slightly streaky, but this completely disappears with the second coat.

I have never found a nail varnish that I've loved until I tried the colour Greenberry. I want to wear it all the time, plus it makes me feel super summery. Papaya is another brilliant colour which I've been sporting on my toes recently.

I also tried to get a bit fancy with the colours...

I got the idea from Dana from Wonder Forest, check out her link here.

The only complaint I have about these nail varnishes is that I bought these two from Boots whilst I was in England for Easter, but didn't try them out until I got back to Malta. If I had know how much I was going to love them, I would have stocked up on more colours! So not a complaint about the varnishes, but my lack of planning.

Anyway, I hope you are all having a great weekend. The reason I haven't blogged in a while is because my boyfriend has flown out to visit me, and I'm making the most out of seeing him. He leaves on Monday (I'm dreading it so much) and I'll take my sadness out in a creative way and write tons of blogposts. Deal?

Essie: Thigh High

A quick post today (as most of mine will be over the next few weeks due to coursework deadlines and exam dates fast approaching), about one of my new nail varnishes I received this Christmas. It's an Essie one in the colour Thigh High.

I love this colour. It's a gorgeous cranberry colour that is perfect for winter. I know it's just a nail varnish, but when I'm wearing it I feel made up, even if I'm just chilling at home in jeans. Is it sad that a nail varnish has such an effect on me..hmmm..probably.

I really like Essie nail varnishes in general as the colours are just gorgeous, but they don't have the best lasting time on my nails for some reason. They aren't terrible, they just don't seem to last as long on my nails as other people rave about.

Does anyone else find this, or is it just me?

Review: Hawaiian Tropic

I know this isn’t a beauty product, but I received this Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Sun Lotion with an ASOS order a while ago and now I’ve had a chance to use it, I thought I’d write a quick review.

The website describes the product as having “ultra-luxurious hydrating silk ribbons” which “nourishes and pampers skin”. Plus it even protects you from UV :)

I have to agree with the website. The product applies easily and soaks in quickly, without leaving the skin sticky. I agree that it is hydrating and moisturises the skin. Plus it smells amazing! I would be tempted to use it as an everyday moisturiser, rather than just sun cream.

It comes up more expensive than other sun lotions but I would say it is worth the extra expense (and I really surprise myself by saying that).

Hope you guys are enjoying the lovely sun like I am, though chances are you’re heading very quickly into winter and putting sun cream on is the last thing on your mind!

Review: Toni & Guy

Boots were recently doing a 3 for £10 deal on all Toni & Guy hair products, so I thought I'd grab a bargain and write a review.

A quick background on my hair (how exciting). My hair has been pretty dry recently, probably due to the fact that I dyed it in an ombre style. I try to wash my hair every two/three days, and it can get a little greasy round my temples, but isn't too bad everywhere else. I try not to use too much heat on my hair, keeping the use of straighteners and hair dryer to a minimum.

The three products I chose where the Classic Shine Gloss Serum, the Cleanse Dry Shampoo and the Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray.

I really like the Shine Gloss Serum. I put it on the ends of my hair whilst it's wet and when it drys my hair feels soft and smooth, and the tips feel healthy. The only down side of this product is that is doesn't smell as nice as my Lee Stafford Shine Serum.

The Dry Shampoo is also a really good product. As well as erasing all the grease in my hair, it adds volume. Plus it also smells good :)

And lastly the Sea Salt Texurising Spray. I really bought this product for my sister to try out as she has beautiful wavy hair that looks incredible with this product. I have used it myself and I can say that it lives up to its name, adding loads of texture. But be careful not to use too much or your hair will just end up looking wet and greasy.

One last thing to add, I feel like I'm in a bit of a hair style rut. I either wear my hair down or up in a plain ponytail (or in a bun if I'm just chilling at home). So, I'm going to do my research and find some new pretty updos that I can wear.

Review: ESSIE Chubby Cheeks

I recently bought my first Essie nail varnish and it is beautiful. I love the coral colour and it has lasted so well. Especially considering I work part time at a children's farm and finding a nail varnish that will last longer than one day can be tricky.

Essie, Chubby Cheeks

The colour I chose was Chubby Cheeks, and I'm completely in love. I will definitely be purchasing another colour from Essie. Now to decide which one...

Review: Avon Glimmerstick Diamonds Eyeliner

Heyyy!

So, I have recently discovered eBay (yes, I know, I'm so behind) and thought I would share with you the first bargain that I've purchased. It's an Avon Glimmerstick Diamonds eyeliner and I think it's brilliant. I chose the one in Smokey Diamond and love the colour. It really stands up to its name and glitters in the light. It's also easy to use and has a creamy texture meaning it slides across your eyelid and lasts all day.

I paid £3.95 for this product, which usually costs £6 plus p&p. Very chuffed! And it's now safe to say I'm an eBay addict!
