Recipe: Red Wine Risotto

Risotto. Perfect in the colder months to provide a warm comforting meal, and great in summer to have packed full of garden vegetables. I enjoy eating risotto all year round, the only problem is, the recipe isn't all that student budget friendly. Especially if you're like me and like to add lots of parmesan cheese.

My usual risotto recipe is very similar to this butternut squash one here, however if I've run out of butternut squash I tend to add whatever ingredients I have lying around in my fridge or cupboard (another good thing about Risotto, you can add pretty much anything)

Whilst I was In florence I tried a different type of risotto I'd never had before. It was Tuscan sausage and red wine. I'd never thought of using red wine before, I'm not sure why because it was delicious! Since then I've tried to make my own version, and with resounding success (read: housemate approved!)

This isn't a recipe

I love food. I love cooking. I love going to restaurants. I am a foodie.

For a while I've wanted to do some recipes on this blog but haven't been able to. For starters, most of the meals I want to blog about are evening meals and the lighting in this apartment is terrible. Also I only have my iPhone with me to take pictures, and we all know how horribly they cope with artificial light.

But today I thought I would dip my toe into the food blogging pool by talking about what I had for lunch. This was super easy to make but really really yummy.

I love avocado but don't eat it that often as I always tend to overlook it when I go food shopping. But last week I decided I would go crazy and treat myself. I've been thinking of difference ways to cook/eat this fruit but in the end decided that simple is the best way.

So this isn't a recipe as it's basically just a glorified sandwich.

       Ingredients:
Bread (I used a part cooked bread roll that I finished off in the oven)
          Avocado (mashed)
          Bacon
          Sun dried tomatoes

It's pretty self explanatory how to  make it (it's a sandwich not rocket science). I was greedy and had a whole avocado to myself but you could easily share between two. I also snuck a cheeky bit of mayo onto the bread.

What I'd really like to know from you guys is do you like reading recipes on people's blogs? I'm not really into sweet things or baking, so it would be more savoury food such as meals or snacks. Would you be interested in seeing those?
