50 things about me, part 4

To see part one click here

Happy Friday everyone. Hope you all have a great weekend planned. My boyfriend is flying over to Malta to visit me and I am so excited. I've been trying to think of fun things for us to do together whilst out here, but have found most of my ideas centre around visiting different food establishments. Anyone else find that their life revolves around food or is that just me?

Pinterest

Anyway, here is part 4 of my 50 facts about me (I wont lie, I'm beginning to struggle. Finding 50 facts about yourself is tough, so I hope these are interesting..)

1. The first time I met one of my housemates, she had been dragged on stage with a stripper. I remember thinking "ew, look at that girl rubbing oil all over that strippers body" It wasn't until a year after I'd been friends with my housemate I found out it was her!!

2. Last summer I was supposed to go travelling to South America but I had to cancel as I came to Malta for a year instead (a student can't afford both you know)

3. The thought of growing up and being responsible terrifies me. Can't I stay young and in uni forever?

4. I hate scary films. Why would you want to purposely scare yourself? Why do people find it fun?

5. I hate rollarcosters (refer to #4)

6.  I once visited Auschwitz. It was an incredibly traumatic but eye-opening experience.I cried for about an hour solid when I got back home. Very sad, however I would recommend the trip to everyone. I will never forget

7. My socks hardly ever match, I swear they go into the washing machine as a pair..

8. I have two younger sisters, and I miss them loads when I'm in Malta (Hey Abi and Iz, I know you're reading this!)

9. I love the taste of bananas, but hate the texture, so it's a constant battle whenever I eat one.

10. Apparently I have no hand-eye coordination. I discovered this last week when my housemates and I tried to play with a bat and ball in the sea. Our highest rally was 3!

What if money was no object?

What job would you like to to get when you graduate?

I get asked this question a lot. And my answer is always, "I don't know yet". Sometimes I feel ashamed by not knowing what I want to do with my life. I have friends that have known exactly what they want to do with their lives since they were in school. A close friend of mine had her heart set on becoming a Speech and Language therapist, so she's gone to uni to study Speech and Language therapy and is guaranteed a job with the NHS when she graduates later on this year. I'm pleased for her, but also a little jealous. She has her plan, and she loves it.

I study Maths at university because I'm good at it, I even enjoy most parts of it, but what I'm going to do with my Maths degree I don't know. I've had many ideas, but none have really made me excited, or created a passion in me to strive for anything.

Part of me feels like I should be grateful for any job I can get (graduate jobs are hard to find you know), but should I settle?

I found a video the other day, and it made me think. What would I like to do with my life, if money was no object...

Do you know what you want to do with you life when you graduate/leave school? Or if you already have a job, is it your dream job? What would you do if money was no object?

Tag: THIS or THAT?

I always get so excited when I get tagged to do a post. So thank you Holly for asking me to do this one. If you haven't checkout out Holly's blog Holly Mixtures then you HAVE to. Fine, I can't force you, but really, you should. She's very funny and gorgeous. Ok enough sucking up :) but really, check her out

So the tag I've been tagged to do is the Beauty 'This or That Tag'. Here are the questions:

Make Up:

Blush or Bronzer?
If you'd asked me a couple of months ago I definitely would have said blusher, but recently it's been all about the bronzer. I change my mind a lot, what can I say :)

Lipgloss or Lipstick?
Lipstick. The only time I use lipgloss, is over the top of lipstick

Liner or Mascara?
Mascara, I think it opens up your eyes and makes you look more awake

Foundation or Concealer?
Normally I would say foundation but as Malta is getting hotter and hotter, I don't really fancy putting foundation on, just to have it run off my face in a clumpy sweaty mess (nice image Georgia). So I've just been using a touch of concealer where I need it most.

Neutral Eyeshadow or Colour?
Neutral all the way

Pressed or loose eyeshadow?
Well seeing as I've never owned a loose eyeshadow...

Nails and Body:

OPI or China Glaze?
...Essie? Barry M? Maybe even No. 7

Long or Short Nails?
Long, but my nails are sooo crazy flimsy I can never get them to grow particularly long. Maybe I should try fake nails?? I think my boyfriend might have a fit.

Acrylic or Natural?
Oh, well I kind of answered this question above..maybe I should have read these through first..

Brights or Darks?
This depends massively on the time of the year. Right now, the thought of lazing in the sun wearing black sounds like a form of torture. But during the winter months, I couldn't get enough of it

Flower or No Flower?
I'm going to have to agree with Holly here....what does that even mean?!

Perfume or Body Splash?
Perfume, though it does attract the mosquitoes :(

Lotion or Body Butter?
Body lotion, I prefer the texture

Body Wash or Soap?
Body wash all the way

Lush or other bath company?
I need to admit something...I don't like baths. I know, I'm sorry, I should be kicked out of the blogging community, but I just don't get it. Why would you wanna sit in your own dirty water for 20 mins? I just find the whole experience stressful and uncomfortable.

Fashion:

Jeans or Sweat Pants?
Jeans!

Long Sleeve or Short Sleeve?
Right now? As it hits 25 degrees? I think I might have to say short sleeves...

Dresses or skirts?
Both :) (is that cheating?)

Stripes or Plaid?
Stripes, but I prefer a floral pattern if there's an option for that?

Flip Flops or Sandals?
Sandals. I always manage to trip over in flip-flops

Scarves or Hats?
Scarves, I love them!

Studs or Dangly Earrings?
Studs. I have a really small head (weird thing to say I know, but it's true) and I think dangly earrings emphasise this.

Heels or Flats?
Heels :)

Cowboy Boots or Riding Boots?
If I had to choose...riding boots

Jacket or Hoodie?
Jacket, unless I'm chilling in the house, then it's all about the giant, two sizes too big for me hoodie

Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe?
Forever 21. I really like the Birmingham Bull Ring branch but am not too impressed with the Bluewater one (which annoyingly is my closest one). Sort it out F21

Abercrombie or Hollister?
Hollister, because I own a hoodie from there and LOVE the fact that the sleeves are so long.

Hair:

Curly or Straight?
Straight

Bun or Ponytail?
Either

Bobby Pins or Butterfly Clips?
Bobby pins. But all my housemates call them hair grips and laugh at me when I call them bobby pins. Who is this bobby person anyway?

Hair Spray or Gel?
Hair spray, not that it does anything. I have really silky hair so nothing, and I mean nothing, holds it in place

Long or Short?
Long

Light or Dark?
Dark, though I currently have light tips

Side Sweep or Full Bangs?
I currently have no fringe whatsoever, just a middle parting, but I am thinking of having a sweepy one cut in when I go back to England

Up or Down?
Down

Random:

Rain or Shine?
Shine, nobody prefers the rain surely?
Apart from ducks, they go crazy for it

Summer or Winter?
Winter

Fall or Spring?
Autumn! My favourite of all the seasons

Chocolate or Vanilla?
Vanilla? Depends what your talking about. If it's ice cream then neither!

East Coast or West Coast?

I think this is more for America, but seeing as I am in Malta, I'm going to answer it for here. The west coast has all the sandy beaches, but I live on and love the east coast for it's busier towns and beautiful rocky beaches, (plus the nightlife).

I hope you enjoyed this tag. If you liked it and want to do it yourself then please do, but make sure you put the link in the comments so I can have a read :)

Here's a couple of people I'd love to tag,
Alice from The Cup and Saucer
Em from Highland Fling

and my current favourite blog, Rosie from Cider with Rosie. Check out her blog, her dog is seriously cute

"Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world"'

During my visit back home I thought I'd make the most of the English shops, so I did a cheeky bit of shopping. I bought some summer clothes for my time out here in Malta, but what I want to show you today are the shoes I purchased.

These first two pairs are from Primark, (trusty Primark, how does Malta not have one!!). I think they were both around £8, and well, you have never have too many black pumps can you. Also, how cute are the moustache ones! I don't actually own anything else with the 'must have' moustache on it, so now I have lost my moustache virginity (well that's a sentence I never thought I'd say).

These shoes are my second ever eBay purchase. I really wanted some chelsea boots but lacked the funds. So I had a browse on eBay and found these ones. I bid £4.99 + £2 p&p and I won. Now I know winning on eBay isn't all that exciting, but I never win anything so I was very excited. They arrived quickly and I think they are brilliant. Now I have my own (look-a-like) chelsea boots :D

These shoes might be my favourite purchase ever ever ever. They are from Zara and I love them. They go with everything and I pretty much wore them everyday in England. (Hence slight scuffing seen in the pictures). I never really wore heeled boots before I bought these, but I'm a huge convert now.

So those are my recent shoe buys. I have to admit something now, three out of these four pairs of shoes stayed in England and didn't make the trip out to Malta with me. There are two reasons for this. First of all I have limited room in my suitcase and I'm already worried how I'm going to transport everything back to England in just two suitcases this summer. And secondly, because I will be wearing mainly flip flops and sandals out here. But now I know I have some lovely shoes to come back to in July, right?

Now it's time to buckle back down to coursework. I'm hoping to get it over with as soon as possible so I can enjoy my summer without interruption. Lots of love and thoughts to all my university friends that I left behind in England who are now in the finishing stages of their dissertation (Keep going Bry!!) and are probably sick to death of it. I know I have all this to dread look forward to next year, but until then I shall complete my small (in comparison) coursework, and if you want me, you can find me on the beach sipping a cocktail.

The Leibster Award

I don't want to blow my own trumpet or anything, but I've won an award :) (well I've been nominated really, but that's just the small details)

I've been nominated by Alice from The Cup and Saucer for the Leibster award. For those who haven't heard of it (where have you been??) here are the details:

- Post 11 things about yourself
- Answer the questions that the nominator set for you

-Set 11 more questions for the blogs you nominate

- Nominate some other blogs, which must have less than 200 followers

The first thing that springs to mind is, WHAT was Alice thinking?? I'm halfway through the 50 Facts about me tag, struggling after number 30, and she wants me to find 11 more. How interesting do you expect me to be?

Well here goes..
  1. I have naturally straight dark brown hair
  2. I will always choose rugby over football (football is rubbish)
  3. I passed my driving test the first time round and drive my little VW Polo
  4. I don't have any tattoos, but I have three ear piercings
  5. Unlike so many other bloggers have mentioned, I actually really love my degree
  6. One day I'd love to live in London
  7. The first festival I ever went to was Glastonbury at the age of 11
  8. I have never broken a bone, and hopefully I never will
  9. I love going to the theatre. So far I have seen the Lion King twice, The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked and I'm off to see War Horse this summer
  10. I think sushi is delicious (my boyfriend thinks it's gross)
  11. I never used to get travel sick, but now I get it really bad
I hope those weren't too dull...Now for the questions set for me by Alice

1. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
An actress, until I was about 14 when I decided I wanted to be an architect instead. Now I have no idea

2. What is your signature dish?
I make a good curry. And since I've moved to Malta I've learnt how to cook a yummy rabbit stew

3. What is your biggest regret?
Well this is a tough question! Ooooh, errrrrrm...Can I pass? Is that allowed? Would it be totally cheesy and bigheaded to say that I don't regret anything, because everything that I've done has made me who I am? Well I've already said it now, so tough :)

4. Who is your favourite fictional character?
This constantly changes according to what book I'm reading or what film I'm watching, but the scariest villain is the penguin from Wallace and Gromit. Remember him? The one who disguised himself as a chicken. Scary!

5. Who are your dream dinner party guests
Another tough question. I hope this answer isn't going to be too boring, but I think there are few things better in the world than a table full of your closest friends, great food and plenty of wine.

6. Would you rather go skydiving or bungee jumping
Skydiving every time!

7. If you could only eat fruit OR veg for the rest of your life, what would you choose?
Probably fruit.

8. Where is the top of your to-visit list?
Costa Rica. One of my friends is heading out there soon and I'm super duper jealous

9. Would you rather be too hot or too cold?
Too cold, I love being all wrapped up

10. Do you believe in fate?
No, I believe we create our own future. I'd like to think good things happen to good people, but life is what you make it

11. What is your favourite treat?
Most people would probably say chocolate or some sort of snack, but for me it's Egg Benedict. My boyfriend always cooks it for me as a treat for breakfast.

And now it's time for me to tag people and set my questions:

1. Do you prefer sweet or savoury?
2. What are your bad habits
3. What are your pet hates
4. Do you prefer to have a bath or shower
5. Where's your favourite holiday destination
6. How long does it take you to go ready in the morning?
7. What would be your dream job? (I need some ideas)
8. What's your favourite book?
9. What would you rather wear, jeans or leggings?
10. Favourite cocktail?
11. Apple or Microsoft?

Here are the girls (and boy) who I'm tagging.

My housemate Jenny (Fairy Elephant)
Emma (Highland Fling) who has slightly more than 200 followers, but I really like her blog
Lauren (Laurensibs) started her blog earlier this year and has some great fashion tips and pictures
Lys (Life and Times of a (nearly) Graduate) who is just starting out on her blogging adventure
Sam (Samuel James Morris) who inspired me with a comment to really love my blog
Sophie (Sophie Loves Food), just visiting her bog will make your mouth water

NOTE: I know some of you have already done this award, but you can never be nominated too many times right? :)

I hope you enjoyed this post, and I'll try to make the next one not so long!

Back to the sun

I'm back in Malta :)

The sun is shining, so my housemates and I couldn't resist a trip to the beach. On the way we walked past a cocktail van. It's like an ice cream van, only better! Sadly none of us had thought to bring our purses but I can assure you we wont make that mistake next time :D

It was sad to leave home though. I had such a lovely time when I was back. I had dinner parties with friends, enjoyed some snow, went to a wedding, froze my bum off at work and caught up with the English nightlife ;)

The snow was a novelty to me

My gorgeous friend Katie and I on a night out (crappy iPhone quality, sorry!)

SNOW!

Birbeck and myself about to leave for a wedding

Fry up anyone? And yes, home made hash browns are amazing

But most excitingly, I've got a new laptop. My old one was about 5 years old and was dying a slow death, so I thought I'd bite the bullet and get a new one. I went against the majority of my friends advice and bought an Apple Mac. Yes it was stupidly expensive, but I LOVE IT. (Still not entirely sure how to work it though.....)

Do you have a Mac? If you have any advice I'd love to hear. For example, does any one use Pages and is it as good as Microsoft word?
